Do You Know Where Your Wife Is?

This question was asked of me by a complete stranger…

That’s right, a few weeks ago, I received a phone call from our credit card company informing me that my wife’s credit card had been compromised, and was being used throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio.

After revealing to me that the account had been compromised, the nice lady on the other side of the phone then began to question me as to where my wife has been over the last 36 hours. Her assumption was that it is entirely possible that she had run away and ran up an enormous credit card balance.

Even after sharing with her that I had just enjoyed lunch with her just an hour ago in TEXAS, she asked if I was sure? Yeah, pretty sure that was her with me at subway! But that wasn’t enough… We then walked through the previous days proving to her that I’m completely confident that my wife is accounted for and that she DID NOT decide to make 13 trips to Sam’s Club… in the KEYSTONE STATE!!!

It occurred to me that either this lady has serious trust issues…
or she has a very unique view of one of the most vulnerable points within marriages today.

While extremely sad, this is an unfortunate commentary on the state of marriages.

According to several studies on divorces in our current culture, overwhelmingly, the number 1 reason couples divorce today is because of financial problems. Specifically, a lack of open communication when it comes to the finances. My nice little credit card friend sees this dirty truth come to light too often…

In light of this truth, let me encourage you to fight…
Fight for your marriage!
Fight for your family!
Fight for the covenant you made before God!!!

How rare it is to have Trust and Faith in your Spouse these days. To be perfectly at peace knowing that they are not going to leave or forsake you. We don’t have to earn, deserve or demand it. We just have it. Like Jesus said, “My Peace I give, not as the world gives.” “Peace that passes all understanding.” It’s time to Weird, because Normal isn’t cutting it.
